My children don’t require my money why shouldn’t this be used for a more noble cause!

A few years back, a dignified person came to our Hospital and showed his inclination to donate some money to the Hospital. Upon inquiry regarding his objective, he said : “People want to leave assets for their children. .Alhamdolillah (Thanks to Almighty ) both of my sons are working as radiologists in USA and earning handsome salaries . They don’t require my money’ and I want to leave a notable asset for them .So I will be pleased if this money is utilized for a noble cause like construction of a ward in this Hospital”. In this way, a complete surgical unit was constructed with Operating Theatre, rooms and two wards for general patients. The philanthropist not only constructed the Ward but also agreed to bear the running expenditure of the Ward .A reasonable amount is being deposited into the account under head of the said Ward every year, sufficient to meet the expenses of maintenance of the ward.

What a wonderful asset for his sons he has planned!

Gulab Devi Hospital & PGMI Library is situated on the 2^nd floor in Sadiq Rabia Building, which has been continuously disseminating the latest knowledge/information to its Postgraduate students& allied health Sciences students ,faculty member, non teaching doctors, Nursing and paramedical staff. Gulab Devi Hospital & PGMI Library is fully engaged in providing effective library services for the promotion of medical education and research work. This library is in developing phase and it will be in operation comprising of latest equipments, facilities and comfortable furniture etc

Services

The Gulab Devi Hospital & PGMI Library will act as resource center cum Library. The latest editions of medical books are acquired to cater the information needs of students and faculty. The following services are provided at initial stage:

The access to HEC Digital Library is available with online medical journals with full text/ online books.

Photocopy service is provided to Gulab Devi Hospital & PGMI students for Library material .

Internet facility is available to Gulab Devi Hospital & PGMI students free of cost. Fourteen Pentium – IV terminals are available for this purpose.

Scanning and print out facility is available in the library.

Reference service is provided to Gulab Devi Hospital & PGMI students specially using Digital Library Database.

Decades ago, an old lady got admission in a private room of Gulab Devi Chest Hospital. She was suffering from tuberculosis .She was treated well. When she got better, her son visited the Medical Superintendent and told him that he wanted to construct a ward in the Hospital for poor patients.The Medical Superintendent gladly agreed when the donor said, ” My mother was treated in your Hospital and she got better .Fortunately , I could afford the expenses but when I see many people dying of tuberculosis because they cannot afford treatment , I feel gloomy .That ‘s why I want to construct this ward”.

The ward was constructed and remained functioning throughout his life. A well know figure: politician, film maker-actor, famous folk singer but who always loved to be known as a social worker’ is not with us today but his services to the Hospital are immortal .

Major surgical procedures cannot be accomplished without the help of a good Anaesthesia Department. A competent Anaesthetist heads this Department and is helped by two Medical Officer and two Staff Nurse who are well versed and know the job.

The Department is involved in very complicated types of surgeries. Along with this, Cardiac Surgery Department of this Hospital is also being served by Anaesthesia Department and all Cardiac Surgery Procedures are being safely performed with the help of this Department.

Tuberculosis (Tb) is a major public health challenge in Pakistan; Pakistan ranks 5th among the 22 high-burden countries in the world. An estimated 300,000 people in Pakistan acquire TB annually. Gulab Devi Hospital was established for TB diseases and had been contributing a lot for diagnosing, treating and controlling the disease.
Gulab Devi Hospital adopted DOTS STRATEGY of WHO in 2006 and is following all the guidelines laid down by the WHO. Since then every efforts is being done to bring it equal to all the desired requirements of WHO.

Dots program is being dealt with very experienced team consisting of chest specialists, microbiologist, pathologist, chest surgeon, radiologist & paramedical staff.

We are dealing very high burden of patents in OPD about 200000 Pts a year and approximately 15-18%(30000-36000)are identified as suspects and undergo investigation. More than 50% (15000) are started with anti TB medicine.
